Mr. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman & Managing Director, Nestlé India visited the DICE School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts on 13th December, 2018. He addressed the students, faculty and a delegation of corporate leaders from Japan about his journey as the leader of Nestlé India. Nestlé is the world’s largest food and beverage company with over 2000 brands ranging from global icons to local favourites, and has its presence in 191 countries around the world.


His enlightening talk revolved around making the best out of the worst times faced by Nestlé under Mr Narayanan’s leadership and how he sailed through the turmoil that the brand, Maggi was in. The presentation exposed the human side of corporates and how even leading brands have to be wary of their

Maggi, as a brand, struck a chord in Indian families by giving mothers a 2-minute solution to their child’s hunger. With the crisis faced by the brand, public trust and public sentiments were deeply affected.

Mr. Narayanan elaborated on how he sailed through the crisis with mass recalls, multiple court visits and targeted advertisements – all of this while keeping the company’s philosophy and values intact.

His leadership revolved around People, Purpose & Values. One quote of inspiration that stuck by him throughout his leadership was from his grandmotherTake care of your people, and things will take care of themselves.

This masterclass was undoubtedly one of the most impactful sessions held on campus, humanizing corporates and showcasing the power of emotions while building and rebuilding brands.
